I was raised in Montana and have called Washington home for the past
several years. The landscapes, animals, and rural way of life in
these charming parts of the American West have been a constant
inspiration to me.
In my Heritage Series, I explore
the drama and mystery that the landscapes & wildlife of Montana
represent to me.
My whimsical
Hearthstone Fables series delves into a world of folklore, myth, and
magic.
Texture is an integral part of my painting technique.
Using palette knives, I build up a spontaneous layer of acrylic gel.
Color washes of iridescent paint create depth and settle into the
texture, giving a primitive, natural appearance to the background.
All of my artwork is created in memory of my beloved mother, Judy Jurist. She set me on
the path of painting and has been a constant voice of
encouragement and love throughout my endeavors.
